Kids love such simple crafts so much that once they start, you might see a flock of turkeys running around with toilet paper rolls.
For little ones, you can pre-cut, design and let them practice their fine motor skills by placing and gluing elements.
This project is a fun Thanksgiving craft and we have many other turkey craft ideas.
How do you make a toilet paper roll out of turkey?
going to need:
- toilet paper roll
- construction drawings
- orange pipe cleaner
- big eyes
- craft glue
- Optional brown paint
Cut the roll in half, trying not to crumple and keep it round.
You can leave them as-is to minimize clutter. Or paint your turkey bodies (tp rollers) with a coat of brown paint and let them dry thoroughly.
Cut strips of iridescent construction paper about 1/2″ wide and about 11″ in length of construction paper.
Fold the strips in half and glue them together, not fold, but roll. Glue the back of your baby turkey body.
Your child can fill in as many times as needed. If your body is too heavy to stand upright, you can hot glue your body to something like a clothespin.
Cut 2-2 inches of pipe cleaner for each turkey and fold one into a triangle for the beak, sticking in place. Fold the other one into a V shape and glue it to the bottom foot.
Add a small piece of red construction paper behind the beak for the turkey to move.
Glue on gooey eyes to complete the face and play with the turkey.

How to make a turkey toilet paper roll
You will need:
toilet paper rolls
orange pipe cleaner
optional brown paint
Step by step instructions
Cut the tp rolls in half, try not to crease them and keep their round shape.
You can leave them as is to minimize the mess. Or give your turkey bodies (tp roller) a coat of brown paint and let them dry well.
Cut the construction paper rainbow shades into long strips, about ½” wide by the length of the construction paper, which is about 11”.
Fold the strips in half and stick them together, don’t bend them, just loop them. Glue to the back of your little turkey body.
Your child can fill it in as much as they want. You can hot glue the body to something like a clothespin if it gets too heavy to help it stay upright.
Cut 2-2″ pieces of pipe cleaner for each turkey and bend one into a triangle for the beak, glue it in place. Fold the other one into a V and glue it to the bottom for the feet.
Add a small piece of red construction paper behind the beak for the turkey to waddle.
Paste googly eyes to finish the face and have fun with the little turkey.
