Rosario Dawson Reacts To Seeing Mark Hamill On Boba Fett Set In BTS Video

In a new behind-the-scenes The Book of Boba Fett set video, Rosario Dawson reacts to seeing Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill. The Disney+ series premiered on December 29, 2021 as part of the ongoing Star Wars TV expansion, which will see a number of new shows within the franchise debut over the next couple of years. The Book of Boba Fett received mixed reviews by the time its seven-episode run ended on February 9.

Though the series was ostensibly an opportunity for the titular bounty hunter to finally spend some time in the spotlight, the character was somewhat sidelined in the second half, resulting in what fans joked was actually The Mandalorian season 2.5. In Boba Fett episode 6, Mando visits the planet on which Luke is training Grogu, intending to give him a gift of beskar chain mail that would signal him a Mandalorian foundling. He is met instead by Dawson’s live-action Ahsoka Tano, who passes on the gift to Luke in his stead.

Now, Dawson retweets a video of her in costume as Ahsoka reacting to Hamill being on set as Jedi Master Luke Skywalker. Though the version of Luke that made it into the series was largely the product of CGI, Hamill was on set to perform, along with a younger lookalike. While Dawson ribs the Twitter user essentially calling her out for fangirling, she also can’t help but look back fondly on that day of filming. Check out Dawson’s tweet below:

While there was certainly a thrill for Star Wars fans at seeing a post-Return of the Jedi Luke Skywalker, the reaction to this episode was somewhat divided. Amidst a general criticism of Boba Fett’s narrative arc being essentially ignored, many viewers were unnerved by the digitally de-aged rendering of Hamill, which also relied on AI to recreate his voice from that time period. Even so, Dawson’s reaction to seeing the actor back in the role on the Boba Fett set is certainly relatable.

While it’s unclear how much more Disney plans to use their virtual Luke seen in Boba Fett, Dawson will star in Ahsoka, a limited series that will expand on the character’s story in the popular Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series. The show is particularly anticipated by fans, who have been eager to see Ahsoka in live-action and responded very positively to Dawson’s initial portrayal in The Mandalorian season 2. Though no Ahsoka release date has been confirmed as of yet, it is expected to drop sometime in 2023.
