These magic cards may seem a little difficult to make, but once you make your first card, you can’t stop! We’ll make it easier because you can get a printable template by the end of this tutorial.

They make the best craft projects for Father’s Day.

So what is magic? Let’s take a look at this…

When placing a hero card, you will only see a silhouette of a man with the word my father written on it.

When you remove the card, a colored version of the image will begin to appear. Cool, right? Oh, and more! ! !

To make this card even more magical, when drawn, this card will reveal the true identity of the father: a hero! There are shields and cloaks or something. Talk about awesome, right? You can even add details to the background to make the card stand out more. I think we can all agree this is the best card kids make for Father’s Day.

The I Love Dad Is Magic card is similar, except it doesn’t show any hidden items (unless you add it yourself). But it also looks great!

Step-by-step instructions for making magic cards for Father’s Day

Print the model. To make 1 card, you need the first page of our printable PDF (for the card frame) and other pages with designs.

Print the design on white paper. The frame can also be white, but a colored frame will definitely look better.

On the drawing page, cut out two rectangles along the outer lines.

Using the paper with the frame and another rectangle, we first cut out the frame (on the outer edge).

There is a rectangle in the frame (marked with a solid line); you have to cut out this rectangle

This is what the framed section of your magical Father’s Day card should look like.

Also cut out the rectangle (along the solid line).

Fold along the dotted line.

Also fold along all the dotted lines on the frame. It is important to make the folds as neat as possible.

We usually use a craft stick to push it through the folds to help with this.

Also take the rectangle you printed on white paper (without the pattern) and fold it along the dotted line, the two folds should be on the same side as the picture.

Lay the paper down as shown (paper down, fold up) and apply glue along the thin folded areas (left and right).

Make Magical Father’s Day Card Frames

Put into the frame as shown. The folded part of the white paper is below the folded part of the frame. Press down on the blue part and apply glue on the blue part.

Close the card and press to set the glue. You may need to press it with a book as you go through the other steps.

The image below shows roughly what the frame for an amazing Father’s Day card should look like: it has “two parts”, one under the white paper and one over it (with the opening for the frame).

Place the rectangle with the design on (or below) the transparent paper. Use it as a template to make the same shape out of clear plastic.

Trim the plastic slightly so that it is slightly thinner and shorter than the drawing on the paper.

Place the plastic sheet over the design (aligned to the top), and place the pattern paper and sheet between the folded rectangles, not everything together (the rectangles are decorative, so if you’re having trouble with this step, You can leave it out)).

Grab your permanent marker (high-quality markers work best) and draw the thicker lines that appear in the design on clear paper. The word my father and the figure of a man.

if you do me

Remove foil and color from your designs.

You can also tint the drawing at the beginning of the project, but if you use dark colors when shading, it becomes more difficult to track.

place card

This is the most important part of making the magic happen! You have to slide the card with the design behind the white paper in the card frame…

And the paper on top of the white paper (between the white paper and the open part of the frame).

Push the card all the way.

If the card gets stuck, you can trim the sides a bit. Push and pull the card a few times to release; works great after a few uses.

Astonishing! You just made an amazing card for Father’s Day! You can also decorate the frame with stickers to make it look a little silly.

Step-by-step instructions for creating magic cards for Father’s Day
Print the model. To create 1 card you will need the first page of our printable PDF (for the card frame) and one of the other pages with the designs.
Print the designs on white paper. The frame can also be white, but a colored frame will definitely look better.
With the page with a drawing, cut out the two rectangles following the outer line.

With the sheet that has the frame and another rectangle, first cut out the frame (along the outer edge).
There is a rectangle in the frame (marked with a solid line) – you need to cut out this rectangle

This is what the frame part of your magical Father’s Day card should look like.

Also cut the shape of the long rectangle (along the solid line).

Fold along the dotted line.

Also fold along all the dotted lines on the frame. It is important to make the folds as neat as possible.
We usually use a craft stick to help with this, pushing it through the creases.

Also take the rectangle (without the pattern) you printed on white paper and fold along the dotted line, both folds should face the same side as shown in the picture.
With the paper positioned as it is in the image (back of the paper down, fold up), apply the glue along the thin folded parts (left and right).

Make Father’s Day Magic Card Frame
Place inside the frame as shown in the photo. The folded part of the white paper goes under the folded part of the frame. Press on the blue part and also apply glue on the blue part.

Close the card, press down so the glue sets. You may want to press it down with a book as you continue with other steps.

The image below shows roughly what your magic Father’s Day card frame should look like – it has “two departments” – one below the white paper and one above (with the frame opening) .

Take the rectangle with the design and place it on the transparent foil (or underneath). Use it as a template to create the same clear plastic shape.
Cut the plastic a little to make it a little thinner and shorter than the drawing on paper.

Place the plastic sheet over the design (align it on top), place both the paper with the design and the sheet between the folded rectangle and staple everything together (the rectangle is decorative so if you have trouble with this step, you can skip it).

Take your permanent marker (higher quality ones work best) and trace the thicker lines that appear in the design onto the clear sheet. Words my father and the figure of a man.
If you are making the I

Remove the foil and color the design.
You can also color the drawing at the beginning of the project, but it makes tracing a little more difficult if you use dark colors when coloring.

Inserting the card
This bit is the important part for the magic to happen! You have to slide the card with the design behind the white paper on the frame of the card…

And the sheet on top of the white paper (between the white paper and the open part of the frame).
Push the card all the way.
If the card is stuck, you may want to cut it a little on the sides. Push and pull the card several times to loosen it – it will work fine after a few uses.
Wonderful! You have just created a magical card for Father’s Day! You can also use stickers to decorate the frame to make it look a little more silly.
