Cryptominers Are Bypassing Nvidia’s Anti-Mining Technology

As mentioned, NBMiner’s LHR bypass comes a couple of days after NiceHash announced 100 percent LHR unlock for its QuickMiner software. The claim has since been tested and verified by several media outlets, who have confirmed that an unlocked RTX 3080 Ti can now get over 110 MH/s, as opposed to the 80 MH/s it used to get with the LHR limiter in place. However, it only supports the DaggerHashimoto (Ethash) algorithm and doesn’t work on some RTX 3000-series models that ship with a new LHR algorithm.
What’s more, QuickMiner’s method only works on Windows, which makes the NBMiner the first software to bypass the LHR on Linux. NBMiner’s bypass technique worked on Windows earlier as well, but its availability on Linux now means that mining rigs on just about any platform will be able to use Nvidia’s RTX 3000-series cards to mine cryptocurrencies without limitation. This could once again disproportionately raise demand for graphics cards at a time when both Nvidia and AMD GPUs are starting to become available once again and at relatively affordable prices.
